The De La Salle University community has a reason to celebrate as Kevin Quiambao, the standout player and Finals Most Valuable Player of UAAP Season 86, has announced his decision to remain with the Green Archers for the upcoming season. This move is aimed at helping the team defend their UAAP championship title.
In a recent Instagram post, Quiambao expressed his gratitude and excitement about continuing his journey with La Salle. He mentioned that this decision came after thorough discussions with his family and friends, indicating his eagerness to strive for back-to-back championships with the team.
During the elimination round of the previous season, Quiambao was a key player for the Green Archers, leading them to a second-seed finish. He showcased impressive statistics with an average of 16.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, six assists, and 1.9 steals per game, including two exceptional triple-double performances.
In the Season 86 men’s basketball finals against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, the 22-year-old athlete maintained strong form, averaging 14.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks across the three-game series.
With this achievement, Quiambao has become the first local player since Kiefer Ravena in 2014 and 2015 to earn the MVP title. He joins an elite group of La Salle players who have received the UAAP MVP award, including Jun Limpot, Mark Telan, Don Allado, and Ben Mbala.
