NorthPort Trades Bolick to NLEX, Trollano Moves to San Miguel in a Three-Team Exchange

Metro Manila — In a notable three-team transaction, NorthPort has transferred prolific guard Robert Bolick to NLEX, while forward Don Trollano is set to join San Miguel.

The PBA Commissioner’s Office confirmed the approval of the complex multi-player trade involving NorthPort, NLEX, and San Miguel on Monday.

Previously, NLEX had shown interest in acquiring Bolick and Kent Salado, offering NorthPort a package of players including Trollano, center Ben Adamos, guard Kris Rosales, and a second-round pick in the PBA Season 49 Draft from Blackwater.

This arrangement facilitated San Miguel’s negotiation with NorthPort for Trollano, exchanging him for Allyn Bulanadi, Jeepy Faundo, and their second-round pick in the 51st Season.

NLEX sought Bolick to compensate for the loss of Kevin Alas, who sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his left knee.

Bolick’s return to the PBA follows an incomplete tenure with Fukushima Firebonds in Japan’s B.League, having previously departed from NorthPort last season.

He reportedly ended his contract with the Firebonds due to his wife’s high-risk pregnancy, leading to his return to the Philippines.

NLEX team governor Ronald Dulatre expressed gratitude towards Trollano, Adamos, and Rosales for their time with the Road Warriors, acknowledging their significant impact on the team and wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Dulatre noted, “This proposed trade is an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills in a new team environment, and we are sincerely thankful for their contributions to NLEX.”

Trollano joined NLEX from Blackwater in January 2022, while Adamos was acquired from Phoenix Super LPG in May. Rosales signed with NLEX as a free agent in November 2021.

Their addition to Batang Pier could enhance the team’s offensive capabilities, complementing the talents of Joshua Munzon and promising rookies Cade Flores, Fran Yu, and Brent Paraiso.

Despite Bolick’s departure, NorthPort has performed impressively in the league, achieving a 5-3 record, largely due to Arvin Tolentino’s consistent performance.
