UAAP: La Salle Triumphs Over UP, Secures First Championship in Seven Years

Metro Manila — The De La Salle University Green Archers have clinched the UAAP men’s basketball title after a seven-year hiatus.

In an intense Game 3 of the finals, held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Wednesday, the Green Archers prevailed over the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons with a score of 73-69.

Kevin Quiambao, the Season 86 Most Valuable Player, was instrumental in La Salle’s victory, contributing 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, earning him the Finals MVP accolade.

The Green Archers staged an impressive comeback, overturning a nine-point deficit in a game that drew a crowd of over 25,000 spectators.

The Fighting Maroons missed crucial shots in the final moments that could have tied the game.

This victory marks La Salle’s 10th men’s basketball championship.

Evan Nelle, who is in his final year, played a key role for the Green Archers, adding 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

UP’s Malick Diouf led his team with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
